4 Things We Wish We Prepared For Before Going To EDC

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

Ever think you know a place and you go there and be completely wrong?? It happened to us during EDC weekend and it made us rethink our existence in Vegas at EDC.

That day, May 20, 2022, was very misleading because it was sunny and beautiful when we got to the event. We took some pictures and enjoy ourselves, but as day turned into night, the temperature dropped and the wind picked up. It was FREEZING, needless to say that I and my boyfriend’s two cousin were all very cold. So cold that our souls left our body. Jo on the other hand was very comfortable in his onesie.

The other mistake was that we forgot our earplugs. We forgot about it until the sounds from the Cosmic Meadows stage hit us like a wrecking ball. We wanted to buy some in there but it was WAYYY expensive. We toughed it out for the rest of the weekend. We couldn’t hear straight for a whole week.

We are not avid music festival goers, so these things are easily forgotten. Don’t be like us; make sure you’re prepared so you can have fun and enjoy yourselves.

Choose Your Parking Wisely

If you’ve been to EDC, then you know how ridiculous it is to get out of the parking lot from 3-5 am (2+ hr wait to get out). If it’s your first time going to EDC, then now you know what to expect.

We found that parking at the Brown Lot South GA Parking, towards the middle to the end of the lot was the most efficient spot. It‘a fairly close to the EDC entrance and exiting the parking lot was super quick ( sadly we didn’t figure it out until the 3rd day). at first we were in a line that didn’t move, but decided to leave the line and go around, we got out within minutes. Our energy tapped out at 3 AM, so if you’re planning to stay til the end, situation might be different.

Check the Weather

We CAN NOT stress this enough. Make sure you check the weather. The first night at EDC, we assumed that it was going to be cool with a gentle breeze. But NAHHHH, it was freezing cold with 17 mph winds 🥶. It was so cold that we had to stand in the merch line for 2+ hours to get jackets and a blanket. It was so windy that they had to shut down the main stage.

The following two days were warm and breezy.

Total regrets about not checking the weather. Learn from our mistakes-check the weather.

Write a Packing List

This is a MUST. It helps with organizing what you want bring.

Our list wasn’t detailed enough, so we forgot important things like earbuds and Nancy’s tops for her outfit (but she brought extra, so her outfits were complete).

This list also helps when it’s time to go back home. The list can be used to double check what you brought. So there’s less chance of leaving anything behind.

Bring an Empty Water Bottle

We should have brought an empty water bottle or one of those water backpacks, but we didn’t and we spent ALOT of money on just water. Also there was a point in the night when the vendors ran out of water bottles.

Have Fun & Be Safe!

As fun as it is, it can also be dangerous if you’re not taking care of yourself when you’re there. we’ve seen a lot of people pass out because dehydration. Drink lots, stay warm or cool, and have fun!

Jo and I hope these tips will help you find better parking, exit the parking lot quicker, stay up-to-date with the weather, write a detailed packing list, drinks lots of water, and have fun!
