I’m going to get real for a minute.
When I was younger, I had terrible skin. Sometimes, I would be too embarrassed to go out because it. So, I spent years looking for ways to make it get rid of it. Throughout the years, I used different types products from prescribed acne medication to Proactiv (remember that brand?), but it only ended in vain. Then I took one of those online quiz and found out that I have sensitive skin. So, I started looking for products specifically for sensitive skin types.
I searched far and wide, only to come up with routines and products that weren’t a match, but I kept searching and eventually, I found a routine and some products that worked for me. So, l latched on to the ones that I deemed most suitable for me and made it part of my skincare routine. These are the ones I would always go back to, even if I tried other products. You could say they’re my holy grail skincare products.

Aprilskin calendula peel off mask
Calendula Peel Off Mask Silicone Brush
Aprilskin is a South Korean brand that focuses on skin cell rejuvenation so that the skin can be beautiful and healthy.
What I like and don’t like about it: I like that the peeling portion of the mask isn’t as painful as the other ones I’ve used. It doesn’t feel like it, but after peeling it off and looking at it under the light and seeing all the little pores and dead skin cells, (gross, I know, but…) it feels satisfying knowing that my face is clean without the itchiness and the red blotches. What I don’t like is how loose it is and that causes the wait to be to extremely long. It takes 30 minutes or more to dry, but it’s worth the wait.
When to use it: Once or twice a week depending on your skin after cleansing. My reason is that it’ll clean what the cleanser doesn’t because let’s be honest, cleanser cleans the top layer, but what about the bottom layer, you know what I mean?
How to use it: Use silicone brush or hands to spread an even layer on face. Brush is recommended, it’ll be much easier to spread.
Where to get it: Amazon offers a bundle deal that includes: the peel off mask and deep essence masks. The silicone brush is sold separately.
I’m from rice toner
Rice Toner
I’m from is a brand from South Korea and from what I’ve heard, they have many other good products. I use only the rice toner from them.
What I like and don’t like: I like that it contains mostly rice extract and what that does is it brightens, whitens, tightens, and gives the skin a nice glow. It also moisturizes your skin. What I don’t like is that gives me this mild burning sensation whenever I use it. Your situation may not the same as mine because our skin may react differently to the product.
When to use it: You apply it after washing your face.
How to use it: 1. Put it on a cotton pad and gently wiping your face with it. 2. Put a small amount in your palm and gently pat on your face.
*I prefer the second method because it doesn't damage your skin, if anything patting it will only help give you more of the glow you want.
Where to get it: Yesstyle offers the rice toner as well as other products from the I'm from brand and amazon offers this product as well.
Klairs supple preparation unscented toner
Unscented Toner
Klairs is a brand from South Korea. Their products were made for all skin types, but their focus is on sensitive skin. I can vouch for this brand because I’ve tried most of it. Since then, it seems like they added more products to their collection.
What I like and don’t like: I like that it’s made with people who aren’t fond of scented products. This is the second version of the toner and it’s made without essential oils. Since I use the rice toner and have that mild burning sensation, this toner cools it down and locks in the positive effects of the rice toner. I also like that it’s made with ingredients that doesn’t irritate my skin. Honestly, there’s nothing negative I can say about this product.
When to use it: The original instructions are to use it after cleansing, but I like to use it after I apply the rice toner.
How to use it: Put a small amount in your palm and gently pat it on your face.
Where to get it: Amazon offers the toner with prime if you want to get it quickly.
Klairs rich moist soothing cream
Soothing Cream
What I like and don’t like: it makes my skin feels smooth, soft, and cooled. I have seasonally dry skin, so it’ll leave my skin feeling hydrated. I can’t think of a negative for this product except that there is a slight scent, but the scent is very mild and it’s not an unpleasant smell, so it’s tolerable.
When to use it: You apply it after the toner (in my case, toners).
How to use it: Squeeze a small amount into your hand.
Where to get it: Amazon offers this moisturizer.
Noticed I didn’t put a cleanser? That’s because I don’t have one yet, but when I do, you’ll be the first to know.
Also to facilitate having better skin, water and sleep is recommended.
