What You Need To Know Before Going to Quan Mii

Updated: Sep 28, 2023

After a whole week of rain, the weather was finally sunny out. So we are going to go to Bake & Che ( but that's another story). Before going to Bake & Che, we wanted to eat savory food and decided on Quan Mii.

So we pulled up to Quan Mii in the Bolsa Mini Mall plaza, down the street from the Asian Garden Mall and up the street from the T & K plaza. We entered the restaurant and waited to be seated, the wait was less than 5 minutes (which is great because we were HUNGRYYYY!!!). We got even hungrier the smell of food that was all around us.

We quickly decided on banh xeo dac biet (crisy crepe special), banh beo "hue"(Hue style soft steamed rice cake), and bun thit Heo nuong xa cha gio tom ( vermicelli noodles with grilled lemongrass pork). For drinks, we got passionfruit and soda chanh mui.

And this is what we thought about it:

The crispy crepe special came with rice paper and warm water, a variety of greens such as mint, thai basil, vietnamese corriander (rau ram), romaine lettuce, fish sauce dip, and a very big crispy crepe, which had shrimp, pork, and bean sprouts (the original crepe has squid, but I asked for it off).

The crispy crepe without a doubt stayed true to its name. It was soooo crispy that it tasted burnt and the snapped as soon as you picked it up. That is a big no no for us because it was hard to eat as a wrap, if you chose to wrap it in the rice paper and the burnt flavor just ruins the whole plate in general. Another thing to note is that the shrimp is unpeeled. In Central Vietnam they cook it with the shell on, but if it was up to me, the shell would have been peeled, but that dipping sauce... DELISH!

Banh beo is a soft steamed rice cake dish that's served with ground shrimp, green onion, mung bean paste and fish sauce for dipping. The steamed rice cake I ordered had mung bean paste, ground shrimp, green onion, and pickled carrots & daikon. The dish itself was not very impressive because it felt gritty when eaten and the dipping sauce was so diluted it tasted like water.

Bun Thit Heo nuong xa cha gio tom consists of grilled lemongrass pork, egg rolls, and shrimp served with vermicelli. At first glace the bowl looked sooo good! After tasting, the flavors were underwhelming. The flavor of the lemon grass pork was delicious. The egg rolls itself were very bland, not even a hint of flavor. Not sure about you, but we prefer our shrimp unshelled and deveined. So it was very unappetizing, but everyone is different.

Our experience that day could have been their off day. So regardless of our experience, you can still find out for yourself at:
